More than Unique: Queneerich Rehman, Philippine Representative to Miss World 2012

What makes an ideal Miss World? Is it beauty, brains, a good heart? Why not all of the above, plus unique talent? It’s been weeks when the 2012 Miss World talent competition took place. During the event, sixteen out of the 116 delegates performed. From the field, a select five were chosen to advance to the final round. Most noticeable of the five was 24-year-old Las Piñas native Queneerich Rehman. What was her talent? She opened her performance by belting out Far East Movement’s Rocketeer followed by a full showcase of her unique talent: beatboxing. In what was a first for any pageant, Quenee’s talent blew the audience away, as evidenced by the noise comprised of numerous applause and cheers. Days after the talent competition, when her performance hit YouTube by storm, little did we expect that it will create further noise from media outlets like The Huffington Post, Time, MSN, Daily Mail UK, to name a few. The Daily Mail quipped, "She put on the unconventional performance during last week's talent round where competitors are encouraged to show something special on stage, a requirement which Miss Rehman definitely fulfilled." At present, her Time Newsfeed is currently the most-read one. Tim Newcomb, who authored the piece, shared, "We'll say on thing for Queneerich Rehman--she can sure drop a beat".

Through it all, Quenee has remained grounded with all the achievements and accolades that she has received. With all the positive news generated by her unusual talent, how will this help her chances for the crown? If she wins Miss World, her unique talent can captivate audiences especially the young around the world and be a useful tool to convey to them “beauty with a purpose”. Hopefully the judges in this year’s pageant will give her a chance to not only showcase her beauty and talent but also a Filipina’s poise, hospitality and generosity to the world.

The 62^nd Miss World Pageant will be held on 18 August in Ordos, Inner Mongolia, China. 116 delegates from all over the world will compete for the crown currently held by Venezuela’s Ivian Sarcos.

Destination Indianapolis: A Super Rematch Super Bowl XLVI!

Here we go, we're down to two and only one will be lifting the Lombardi Trophy.  On 03 February 2008,  the hearts of Patriots fans were ripped wide open from our chest when just seconds away from victory the New York Giants scored what is perhaps the biggest upset in Super Bowl history thus ending the hopes of the New England Patriots for a perfect season. 

In just 13 days, both Giants and Patriots will once again face off at Indianapolis' Lucas Oil Stadium for Super Bowl XLVI. This is a chance for the Giants to prove that their Super Bowl XLII victory is not a fluke while for the Patriots its a chance for redemption. A victory for Eli Manning will permanently put him outside of his brother Peyton's shadow while a fourth Super Bowl ring for Tom Brady will further cement his legacy as one of the greatest quarterbacks of all time. 

Its also worth noting that for the Patriots are also playing with a heavy heart as Myra H. Kraft, wife of owner Bob Kraft lost her cancer battle last July. This season is being dedicated to her memory. 

It's bound to be great game one that will surely be a ratings winner for NBC, the official broadcaster this year. Once again as always, here's cheering for the Patriots all the way.
